You are sitting at a table across the room

You are sitting at a table across the room
at the dinner party
I excuse myself from my table too often
to go into the cold pink bathroom
& look at myself in the mirror

The lines on my forehead mean
I’m worried about what it will tell me
about the changing definition
of my body
& what you might notice
about the changing definition
of my body

I dream about dinner parties
all the time
I dream about dinner parties
& bathrooms
& mirrors
